The principle
Exclusivity must be real, not numbered.
No edition of ten. No second colourway. No later reproduction. Once a work leaves Studio 55, its form is retired and belongs to one collector alone.
Permanent provenance
Each acquisition enters the studio archive with signed certification, photography and a written record of its making.
Private access
New works are offered discreetly to a small circle before any public presentation.

A deliberately small body of one-off works. Each piece is considered individually, with availability, viewing and acquisition handled directly and in confidence. Works that enter private collections remain visible in the studio archive and are marked as acquired.

The collector standard
At this level, the experience surrounding the work matters as much as the work itself. Each acquisition is documented, protected and placed with the same care used to create it.
Signed provenance
A certificate of authenticity, unique studio reference and permanent entry in the Simon Greatbatch archive.
Studio dossier
High-resolution photography and a written account of the form, material, firing and ideas behind the work.
White-glove placement
Bespoke crating, insured worldwide delivery and specialist installation arranged around the collector and the space.
Absolute discretion
Collector details, acquisition values and private commissions remain confidential unless the collector requests otherwise.
The artist
A return to the material that came first.

Simon Greatbatch grew up in a home shaped by art: his mother a wildlife sculptor, his father a landscape and abstract artist. Clay, paint and making were part of ordinary life long before they became a formal education.
After studying ceramics and building a business with his wife for more than three decades, Simon returned to a full studio practice at 55. Studio 55 marks both the place where the story began and the age at which it began again.

Private commissions
A new work for one place, and no other.
Simon accepts a limited number of private commissions for collectors seeking a work created specifically for a residence, collection or architectural setting. Scale, proportion, surface and material direction can be considered in consultation, while every work remains entirely original to Simon. No existing form is reproduced and no commissioned work is repeated.
